April 20, 2026

Between Friday, April 17 and Monday, April 20, the firefighters of the Bedington Volunteer Fire Department responded to 16 calls for service during a notably busy weekend. These incidents included six traffic accidents, multiple outside fires, and several residential fire alarm activations.

BVFD operates with paid staffing, from Berkeley Fire, at Station 40 on Bedington Road, supported by volunteers responding from home, from Station 49, and alongside the career crew at Station 40. The department remains one of the busiest volunteer fire companies in Berkeley County.

The BVFD response district covers a wide and diverse area, including 13 miles of Interstate 81 northbound to the Maryland state line, Shepherdstown Road to the Jefferson County line, and all surrounding communities in between.
