Memorial Day - Honor, Service and Sacrifice. |
| May 23, 2026 | |
| Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the cost of our freedoms — a day when our nation pauses to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States. At the Bedington Volunteer Fire Department, we stand with our community in remembering these heroes and reflecting on the legacy they leave behind. For firefighters, EMTs, and first responders, Memorial Day carries a special weight. Many of the values we uphold — courage, duty, service before self — are the same values embodied by the fallen. Their sacrifice inspires us to serve our neighbors with the same commitment and integrity. Across Martinsburg, Berkeley County, and communities nationwide, families will gather, flags will fly at half‑staff, and moments of silence will be observed. We encourage everyone to take time today to remember those who never returned home, and to support the families who carry their memory forward. From all of us at Bedington VFD, we honor the fallen, we thank the families who sacrificed alongside them, and we remain committed to serving our community in their spirit. We remember. We honor. We stand United. |
