This morning at approximately 5 a.m., the Bedington Volunteer Fire Department and Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a commercial vehicle fire on Interstate 81 northbound near the 16 mile marker. Fire apparatus was positioned to block traffic and safeguard personnel working at the scene. During the incident, Truck 30 and Engine 30 were struck by an oncoming vehicle. West Virginia’s Move Over Law exists specifically to protect first responders operating at emergency scenes. This incident is being investigated by law enforcement.
