Remembering Former Delegate John Overington
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

January 28, 2026

West Virginia is mourning the loss of former Delegate John Overington, a respected public servant and a steadfast supporter of first responders across the state. His passing marks the end of a life defined by service, integrity, and deep commitment to the community he loved.

For many years, Overington made his home in Bedington, where he became more than a neighbor—he became part of the fabric of the community. His dedication to local service was recognized through his distinction as an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Bedington Volunteer Fire Department, a reflection of the genuine respect and appreciation he earned from those who served alongside him.

Throughout his legislative career, Overington was a consistent advocate for fire departments, EMS personnel, and law enforcement agencies across West Virginia

His loss is felt deeply in Bedington and far beyond. As the community reflects on his legacy, many are holding close his wife JoAnne and the entire Overington family.
