| May is National Bicycle Safety Month, a time to celebrate the joys of cycling and to emphasize the critical importance of safety for everyone on the road. With more people dusting off their bikes and enjoying the warmer weather, it’s the perfect opportunity to review the rules of the road and commit to safe riding practices. This month serves as a crucial reminder for both cyclists and motorists to be mindful of each other and to share the road responsibly.
Cyclists are encouraged to check their equipment—making sure tires are inflated, brakes work, and reflectors are in place—and most importantly, to always wear a properly fitted helmet.
Motorists can do their part by watching for cyclists, especially at intersections, and giving them ample space when passing. By prioritizing safety and mutual respect, we can make cycling a fun, healthy, and safe activity for everyone in our community throughout May and beyond. |
